Dr. Placik | Voluma Chicago

VOLUMA® is an injectable gel that’s approved by the FDA to instantly add diffuse volume to the cheek area. A new dermal filler from the makers of JUVÉDERM®, VOLUMA® replaces the age-related loss of volume that often occurs in the cheeks to enhance facial contours and create a more youthful profile. VOLUMA® joins the host of other dermal fillers Dr. Placik offers to help fight the effects of aging without surgery, stitches, or downtime.

Dr. Otto Placik is a board certified plastic surgeon who uses injectable fillers like VOLUMA® to restore facial volume and firmness that naturally declines with age. Dr. Placik offers a variety of medical spa treatments for patients in Chicago and surrounding suburbs.

When it comes to aging, wrinkles aren’t the only culprits that contribute to an older appearance. The cheeks naturally lose fullness and firmness and can develop a flattened, saggy or hollow look over time. Just as JUVÉDERM® beautifully fills in folds and lines around the mouth and nose, VOLUMA® effectively restores a fullness and plumpness to the cheeks and creates the high-cheekboned appearance that is synonymous with youth. Fillers such as VOLUMA® and Radiesse® accomplish non-surgical results that are nearly equivalent to cheek augmentation with cheek implants.

VOLUMA® is the first and only hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that has been FDA-approved to replace lost volume in the cheek area, resulting in a visibly lifted appearance. Formulated with a patented process that ensures a smooth consistency, VOLUMA® blends seamlessly with natural tissues and provides volume that looks natural and flawless. VOLUMA® contains hyaluronic acid, which helps promote balanced hydration in the skin.

Patient Not a Model

Before a treatment session, Dr. Placik will evaluate your face to determine if VOLUMA® is right for you and how much product he recommends for the desired result. Dr. Placik may use a topical numbing cream on the injection sites to increase patient comfort, although VOLUMA® contains a small amount of lidocaine to help numb the treatment area. Using a very fine needle and cannula technique, Dr. Placik injects VOLUMA® into three parts of the cheek (the apex, apple and hollow) in order to ensure very natural-looking results.

The entire injection process takes about 15 minutes, and patients can return to their normal activities within 24 hours following treatment. After treatment, you may have some mild to moderate side effects, such as swelling or tenderness, but these generally subside within 2 to 4 weeks. After treatment, most patients say they feel like they appear 5 years younger, and the results can last up to 2 years.

Am I a good candidate for VOLUMA®?

The FDA has approved VOLUMA® for patients over 21 years old, and any patient with age-related volume loss in the cheekbone area may benefit from VOLUMA®. Patients with already firm skin will see the best results, while patients with more pronounced skin sagging should be aware that they may not be able to achieve their goals with VOLUMA®.

What makes VOLUMA® different from other dermal fillers?

VOLUMA® was specifically formulated to address lost volume in the cheeks, which have a larger surface area than other fillers are designed to effectively correct. The smooth, gel-like consistency of VOLUMA® is particularly well-suited to the cheeks because of its ability to blend naturally with the surrounding areas and create subtle fullness that’s durable and long-lasting.

Can VOLUMA® be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures?

For some patients, combining VOLUMA® with other treatments can be a great way to bring their results to a whole new level. For example, restoring fullness to the cheekbones with VOLUMA® while diminishing crow’s feet and forehead furrows with BOTOX® Cosmetic can create a more refreshed, younger-looking appearance than either procedure would alone.

How much does VOLUMA® cost?

How much a treatment session will cost depends on the amount of VOLUMA® each patient needs to address lost cheek volume. Given that the results from VOLUMA® can be enjoyed for up to 2 years, most patients agree the results of VOLUMA® are worth the price. Dr. Placik and his staff strive to provide excellent value and can help you with financing to make your treatment even more affordable.

What are the risks?

The most common side effects reported after receiving VOLUMA® include temporary swelling, bruising, discomfort, firmness and itching at the injection site. In rare occurrences, allergic reactions may occur, and patients with a history of reactions to other injectables containing hyaluronic acid shouldn’t be treated with VOLUMA®.

Dr. Placik promises you his best possible care and attention. If you would like to schedule a private consultation to learn more about VOLUMA®, please contact us online or call us at 847-398-1660.
