About the O-Shot™

Although it’s estimated that a high percentage of women suffer from sexual problems, very few of them discuss their concerns with their doctor. Female sexual arousal and orgasm involves a complex mix of physical, psychological and emotional issues that are interconnected in ways that medical science doesn’t fully understand. As a result, effective treatments for female sexual dysfunction are too often limited to either short-term hormone therapy or counseling.

The O-Shot™, or Orgasm Shot™, is a treatment based on the same regenerative science as platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP), which uses healing factors from a patient’s own blood to rejuvenate the treated area. The O-Shot™ can be beneficial for addressing a number of sexual health-related concerns in women:

  • Dyspareunia: Persistent, recurrent pain that takes place prior to, during or immediately after sexual intercourse.
  • Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder: Diminished sex drive severe enough to consistently impact quality of life.
  • Female Orgasmic Disorder: Affected women can experience arousal but have difficulty achieving orgasm.
  • Female Sexual Arousal Disorder: Women may desire sex but not feel the accompanying physical arousal, or may not be able to sustain arousal.

Urinary stress incontinence may also be improved with the O-Shot™.

The O-Shot™ is a quick in-office procedure that can be performed in about 10 minutes. First, Dr. Placik draws some blood from the upper arm, similar to any lab test. Next, the blood processed through a centrifuge to spin down the platelet-rich plasma, a natural serum that’s abundant in healing growth factors. This serum is injected into the areas where sexual response is most critical: around the clitoris and in upper vagina. After injection, revitalizing cells can grow and multiply as healthy vaginal tissue is regenerated.

Although many women notice a temporary improvement right after treatment, the long-term effects are the result of renewed tissue growth, which begins about 3 weeks after treatment and continues to improve for about 12 weeks. In some cases, Dr. Placik may suggest more than one O-Shot™, as a cumulative effect is also possible. However, it’s recommended to wait 6-8 weeks before considering additional treatments.

As nourishing factors in the O-Shot™ affect the erogenous tissues, you should notice increased sexual desire, easier vaginal orgasms, a higher level of arousal from clitoral stimulation and stronger orgasms that occur more frequently. Physically, symptoms of dyspareunia can be alleviated, natural lubrication can increase and urinary incontinence may be relieved.

The O-Shot™ can be combined with additional genital rejuvenation procedures designed to enhance sexual stimulation, such as clitoral hood reduction or G-spot enhancement. During your consultation, Dr. Placik will talk more about whether a combination approach could be beneficial for you.

O-Shot FAQ

Am I a good candidate?

The women who benefit most from the O-Shot™ have problems with sexual arousal and have failed to find long-term relief from other treatment methods. The O-Shot™ can also be administered in combination with additional procedures related to genital rejuvenation or sexual enhancement. It’s important to have realistic expectations about the results you can experience after the O-Shot™, as seeing the optimum results can take up to several weeks after treatment.

Does it hurt?

Drawing the blood shouldn’t hurt any more than getting a shot or donating blood for a lab test, and Dr. Placik will apply a topical numbing cream to ensure that you feel no vaginal discomfort during or after the O-Shot™.

Will my partner be able to tell?

Some women do report visible physical changes after the O-Shot™, such as smoother labia or a more prominent clitoris, while their partners may report sensations of increased vaginal tightness. However, the O-Shot™ is not an external cosmetic procedure, so you can feel confident about enjoying the utmost discretion after your treatment session.

How soon can I resume intercourse?

Some women may feel tender right after the O-Shot™, so you should wait until you feel comfortable before becoming intimate with a partner. If you feel fine physically, you can resume sex as soon as you feel the time is right.

How much does the O-Shot™ cost?

The price of the O-Shot™ will vary somewhat depending on a number of different factors, including whether you opt for additional treatments at the same time, or if more than one shot is recommended. Dr. Placik and his staff strive to provide value to each patient and give you more information on cosmetic surgery financing options to make your O-Shot™ even more affordable.

How soon will I see results?

The O-Shot™ offers immediate results that may initially fade, then peak again several weeks later. This is due to the nature of the injection and the length of time that the body takes to heal and restore your vaginal tissue. Dr. Placik will work closely with you to determine the best timing for your O-Shot™, as well as discuss with you in more detail about whether you may be a candidate for more than one session.

Dr. Placik promises you his best possible care and attention. If you would like to schedule a private consultation to learn more about the O-Shot™, please contact us online or call us at 847-398-1660.
