Woman jogging Breast sagging can be inevitable for some women as their bodies respond to changes brought on by age, weight fluctuations, and pregnancy. For athletic women, however, sagging breasts can develop as a result of improper care. Jogging is one of the best forms of cardiovascular exercise and provides many men and women alike with a mental relief after a day of work, but if you enjoy hitting the pavement or the trails, it’s important to understand the effects that jogging can have on your breasts.

Strain on the Breast Tissue

The breasts are primarily made up of fatty tissue, and because there is no muscle in the breast tissue itself, the breasts are prone to sagging. While certain exercises like push-ups can strengthen the underlying pectoral muscles to make some women’s breasts appear perkier, for others, no amount of chest exercises can compensate for the strain placed on the breast tissue during a vigorous workout especially high impact activities such as horseback riding.

Wear an Athletic Bra

Wearing a proper sports bra can help prevent too much bouncing or swaying of the breasts during your routine jog. The breasts should be held in place by a sports bra so that the breast tissue experiences as little strain as possible. Women with large breasts sometimes even wear two sports bras to prevent their breasts from moving too much during athletic activities.

A Breast Lift to Rejuvenate Your Figure

If you do develop ptosis, or sagging, it’s not the end of your youthful figure. A breast lift (mastopexy) is an increasingly common cosmetic procedure for women hoping to restore their breasts to a youthful position. A breast lift reshapes and repositions the breasts, creating a perkier bust line to resolve issues of sagging.
