Breast Augmentation (and lift)

Breast surgery can enhance breasts of all sizes and shapes. Many women are born with small breasts that they would like to enlarge and make fuller. Pregnancy or the natural aging process can cause a woman's breasts to sag and lose their shape and firmness. These changes can also result from, breast-feeding, weight fluctuations, and heredity. Whether you feel your breasts are too small, too large or that they sag and need to be lifted, breast enhancement surgery can help. Questions about the technique and the type of breast implant to be used, as well as any concerns about the safety and present status of breast implants will be thoroughly discussed during consultation with Dr. Placik.

Breast augmentation will not correct sagging breasts. It is performed to enlarge breasts that a woman may feel are too small by using saline or silicone implants. Breast augmentation can also increase cleavage. In cases where a woman wishes to increase the size of her breasts and to improve the position of the breasts, a breast lift may be performed in conjunction with breast augmentation. Adult women of any age can benefit from breast enlargement. If a woman would like to lift the breasts that sag or droop without making them larger, a breast lift, or mastopexy is performed. Breast augmentation (mammaplasty) is performed under a general, intravenous, or local anesthetic depending upon the surgical technique and your anesthesia preference. This will be decided by you and Dr. Placik.

Some women find that their breasts are too large and they would like a breast reduction and some may have asymmetrical breasts in which one is a different size from the other. Other women may have or breasts that have an unusual shape, such as in tuberous breast deformity. In all of these cases, we can evaluate your particular issue and let you know how we can help.
