Two exciting options are available for individuals seeking non-surgical nasal enhancements: 1) injectable fillers and 2) Botox®.

One increasingly popular application of injectable fillers is to alter the shape of the nose. Rather than undergoing complicated, invasive, and painful rhinoplasty, patients with minor defects in the shape of their noses have opted for a non-surgical nose job.

Dr. Otto J. Placik, M.D., uses fillers such as Radiesse®, Evolence® and Juvederm™ in a non-surgical nose job to address issues such as:

• A slightly crooked appearance in the nose
• Bumps on the surface of the nose
• Bulges in the nose
• A weak look to the bridge of the nose

These and other surface irregularities can be smoothed out with injectable fillers. While the size of the nose cannot be reduced with this procedure, judicious use of fillers can smooth out the nose's profile, fill in depressions, and disguise bulges.

While it might seem that adding fillers to the nose would make it look larger, it actually can result in a smaller appearance. The injections can help balance out the proportions of the nose compared to the rest of the face, and give the nose a smoother, more regular shape.

Another novel non-surgical nasal option is the use of Botox® to treat excessive down turning of the nose with smiling. Patients often present complaining that their nose plunges downwards with smiling, obscuring their upper lip. They are most aware of this when reviewing photographs of themselves. A single injection of Botox® into this muscle is a convenient alternative to surgically removing the muscle or lifting the nasal tip.

A non-surgical nose job cannot correct:

• Breathing difficulties
• Deviated septum
• Any issues with the internal structure of the nose
