Have a Mommy Makeover
While some women bounce back easily from pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, others have a much harder time, and some despair of ever regaining their pre-pregnancy figures. More than just adding weight, pregnancy and childbirth can reconfigure your body, especially the breasts and abdominal area. This loss of tone can be very difficult to correct even with diligent dieting and regular exercise.
At Associated Cosmetic Surgeons, we can offer a "Mommy Makeover"- a combination of cosmetic surgery procedures that can help restore your body to its pre-pregnancy state and make it familiar to you again.
Procedures you might consider include:
- Breast lift - A breast lift can restore breasts to their pre-pregnancy position, if pregnancy has resulted in loss of tone.
- Breast augmentation - Augmentation can restore familiar contours to your breasts.
- Tummy tuck - Can tighten abdominal muscles that have been stretched out of tone during pregnancy, as well as removing excess belly fat.
- Liposuction - To remove stubborn excess fat from the belly, arms, and legs.
For a private consultation to see what procedures might be right to achieve the results you desire, please contact Dr. Otto Placik's office in Chicago or Arlington Heights. Let us help you rediscover the body you remember, so you can be the best mother you can be.

The Safety of Non-Physician Supervised Medspas
According to a recent report by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the answer may be no. In asking 1,000 women how they felt about medical spas, the researchers discovered that many women—particularly those between the ages of 18 and 34—seek such non-invasive procedures as Botox® during medspa visits. This in an of itself is not troubling; however, over half (52.3%) of the surveyed women who had an opinion on the matter stated they wouldn’t mind if a physician were not present during a non-invasive procedure at a medspa.
All procedures come with some risks. Your job (and ours) is to ensure that those risks are minimized to the greatest extent possible. To that end, remember that any cosmetic procedure—invasive or not—should be performed under the supervision of a qualified plastic surgeon.

Cheek Fat Helps with a Youthful Appearance
As part of their research, the plastic surgeons at UT Southwestern set out to map cheek-fat compartments in the skin that, when filled with fat or implants, dramatically improve facial appearance. Aside from providing fuller, more youthful-looking cheeks, inserting fat into these compartments can also translate into greater volume around the eyes and fewer lines around the mouth and nose. Together, all of these mean a younger-looking you.
By identifying these compartments beneath the skin, and by establishing a connection between filling these compartments and achieving desired results, the researchers have contributed to the ever-improving field of plastic surgery.
